    麦先生讳大成,号尔章,泰西波尔都噶里亚国人,自幼入会真修。康熙四十九年庚寅岁入中华传教。于雍正元年七月十四日卒,年四十七岁,在会三十年。

    Tomb of Father Mai of the Society of Jesus
    Father Mai of the Society of Jesus, given name Dacheng, style name Erzhang, was a native of the country of Portugal in the Far West. From a young age, he entered the Society and devoted himself to religious practice. In the 49th year of the Kangxi reign (1710), he entered China to preach. He passed away on the 14th day of the 7th month in the 1st year of the Yongzheng reign (August 14, 1723), at the age of forty-seven. He was in the Society for thirty years.

    Father João Francisco Cardoso, from Portugal, of the Society of Jesus, professed of four vows. He lived in the Mission of China for 13 years, and died in Beijing on August 14th in the Year of Our Lord 1723, aged 47, 30 years after entering the Society.
