Tomb of the Jesuit Father Nan Gong
Father Nan, personal name Guangguo, style name Ranbin, was a man from the Kingdom of France. Motivated by a desire for virtuous cultivation, he abandoned his family and worldly life, and spent twenty-one years in the Society of Jesus. In the jimou year of the thirty-eighth year of the Kangxi reign (1699), he came east to China to preach the Holy Catholic Faith.
He died on the fifteenth day of the tenth month in the renwu year of the forty-first year of Kangxi (1702) in Shuntian Prefecture, at the age of thirty-eight.Latin
