Tomb of Father Mai of the Society of Jesus

Father Mai of the Society of Jesus, given name Younian, style name Jide, was a native of the country of Portugal in the Far West. From his youth, he entered the Society and devoted himself to true cultivation. In the fourth year of the Yongzheng reign (1726), he entered China to preach. He was in the Society for twenty years. He passed away in the capital (Beijing) on the sixth day of the second month in the jǐyǒu year (March 5, 1729), at the age of thirty-six.
