Tomb of Father Yan of the Society of Jesus

Father Yan of the Society of Jesus, given name Jiale, style name Xianhou, was a native of the country of Bohemia in the Great Western Ocean. He devoted himself to religious practice from his youth. In the 55th ye^ar of the Kangxi reign (1716), he was imperially summoned to the capital to serve in the Inner Court. He passed away on the 7th da^y of the 7th mo^nth in the 13th ye^ar of the Yongzheng reign (August 5, 1735). He enjoyed a longevity of fifty-seven years and was in the Society for forty-one years.
