高先生讳嘉乐，号怀义，泰西波尔都嘎尔亚人，自幼入会真修。康熙三十五年进广东，至北直真定府传教。雍正二年进京。卒于乾隆十一年正月十五日，年八十三岁，在会六十六年。

Tomb of Father Gao of the Society of Jesus
Father Gao, personal name Jiale, style name Huai yi, a Portuguese from West Europe, was initiated into the Society at a young age and cultivated true faith. In the thirty-fifth year of the Kangxi reign he came to Guangdong, and preached to the north at Zhending Fu. In the second year of the Youngzheng reign he came to Beijing. He passed away on the fifteenth day of the first month in the eleventh year of the Qianlong reign, at the age of eighty-three, and was in the Society for sixty-six years.

Father Carlos Rezende of the Society of Jesus, a Portuguese, having been professed in four vows, came for the purpose of the China mission in the year 1696, in which he spent fifty years, in Zhengding Fu twenty-eight years, in Beijing twenty-two years, where full of days and of merits he passed away piously in the Lord on the fifth day of February in the year of salvation 1746, at the age of eighty-three, having entered the Society sixty-six years ago.
