Tomb of the Jesuit Father Guo Gong
Father Guo, personal name Tianjue, style name Lianggui, was a man from the Kingdom of Portugal. From his youth he entered the Society of Jesus and diligently cultivated his knowledge. After many years and travels across the minor Western seas, he became a teacher of metaphysics, instructing others in doctrine.
At the age of forty, he came to China, and in the prefecture of Zhending he taught for two years.
Despite illness, he traveled to the capital and endured suffering until his peaceful death, which occurred in the thirty-third year of the Kangxi reign, on the twelfth day of the fourth month (April 30, 1694).
He lived forty-four years, of which twenty-eight were spent in the Society of Jesus.

born on 8 September 1650. He entered the Society in 1666.
Still a novice, he went to India. After completing his studies there, he taught theology for seven years and delivered sermons to the people.
He came to China in 1690. During his mission in Zhengding, after two years of tireless labor, he fell ill.
He was brought to Beijing and, within four months, died in the year 1694, on the 5th of May, at the age of forty-four, having spent twenty-eight years in the Society of Jesus.
